We have joined with Sedona Film Festival to present a screening of the 2000 documentary "Grateful Dawg" on Wednesday, June 5 at 7 pm. This documentary chronicles the friendship and musical relationship of musicians Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. Director and producer Gillian Grisman uses multiple videos, as well as live recordings, to help show this bond between two friends and musicians. It gives a view of Garcia outside the Grateful Dead. The film includes many live performances of Grisman and Garcia. - from Wikipedia

David Grisman FolkJazz Trio

Headlining this year's festival is the acclaimed mandolinist/producer David Grisman FolkJazz TrioDavid Grisman and his David Grisman FolkJazz Trio as he continues his vision of "Dawg Music" with flat-picking guitarist/singer Jim Hurst and son Samson (Sam) Grisman on bass, bringing a fresh view of American folk tunes and more through tasteful arrangements and invigorating improvisation. www.davidgrisman.com

The Matt Flinner Trio Matt Flinner Triowith mandolinist Flinner, guitarist Ross Martin and bassist Eric Thorin perform Sunday. Flinner's three-piece band uses every musical device known and more as they play their instruments to the fullest extent. Both plucked and bowed bass lines exist among a host of flowing chord structures and complicated arrangements, all executed with pinpoint precision.

The Sonoran Dogs The Sonoran Dogs
perform Saturday and Sunday. Made up of seasoned veterans who came together to enjoy bluegrass music and friendship, they play a collection of traditional bluegrass standards, new-grass, and original compositions. With Peter McLaughlin on guitar, Mark Miracle on Mandolin, Tyler Walls on banjo and Brian Davies on stand-up bass, their improvisations make for dynamic and fun performances.

The Burnett Family Bluegrass Burnett Family Bluegrassalso perform Saturday. This is family music at it's best with hard driving instrumentals and fine-tuned harmonies. Brian, on guitar and mandolin, Connie on acoustic bass and their multi instrument playing daughters Rachel and Jessie, and son Ryan who all play fiddle, guitar, mandolin and others. Pick n Holler plays music from Pick n HollerAmerica's past, keeping alive the sounds that have brought people together for centuries. We draw deep from the old time string band tradition of Appalachian fiddle and banjo tunes, but aren't scared of the Mother Maybelle blues or some Hank Williams heartbreak. High energy old time music to keep the feet tapping and faces smiling!

Muskellunge Bluegrass plays Muskellunge Bluegrasscontemporary, original American music that incorporates the traditions of the past into the topics of today. "While McKelvey's songs form the foundation of the band, it's the virtuosic musicality present in the foursome that truly makes Muskellunge a classic Flagstaff band." - FlagLive! Nolan McKelvey (Vocals/Guitar), Aaron Tyler (Mandolin/Vocals), Tim Hogan (Bass/Vocals), and Frank Dedera (Banjo).

The Titan Valley Warheads are known Titan Valley Warheadsfor their tight harmonies and instrumental skills. While the nuclear weapons system they were named after is long gone, they live on as Tucson's premier Western swing/bluegrass band. While the musicianship has always been superb, they have always been a very laid-back group. The Warheads are more interested in picking and grinning than glory. Consisting of Gary Kuitert on mandolin, Earl Edmonson on guitar, Ed Davenport on bass, Andy McCune on banjo and Tom Rhodes on fiddle.
