2013 Piano Competition

Competition April 6, 2013 and Recital April 7, 2013

The Chamber Music Piano competition was created to give local youth an opportunity to perform before judges and be awarded for their participation in the competition.

The top winners of each category are awarded the opportunity of performing before an appreciative audience in a public recital. In addition, participants will be awarded scholarship dollars to further their musical journeys. The amount will be according to their standings in the competition.

Students will be evaluated on musical accuracy, interpretation, rhythm, style and technique. Two divisions, intermediate and advanced, will allow students of different levels to compete within their appropriate categories. Cash prizes will range from $30 to $250 depending on the division.

Young pianists ages 11 through 19 (as of April 5, 2013) enrolled full time as students, including High School Seniors, may apply to participate by contacting their respective teachers. Parental approval must be granted also. Previous first place winners in specific categories are not eligible to re-enter in the same category and must wait one year before entering in the same category. A $30 registration fee MUST accompany the application documents. All Music MUST be memorized. The competition is NOT open to the public; however, the public is invited to the Sunday recital at no charge.

All application documents MUST be post-marked no later than Friday, March 15, 2013.

All applicants will be notified of their audition time by phone no later than Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
